I am a self-taught painter, who has tried my hand at many materials from acrylic, oil paint, watercolors to ink on rice paper... and I continue to seek my own style and theme.
One day, my close brother brought me a special gift: jars of color made from clay of Da Lat, soil from My Tho, and coconut shell charcoal that he himself extracted and processed. I was immediately captivated by the raw beauty of these materials and began to experiment.
At the same time, I also received mixed feedback about "only being able to paint a few acrylic paintings and post them online", "not knowing how to paint"... Instead of getting discouraged, I turned those words into motivation to create. This painting is the result of that experience and reflection.
Is art necessary? Who gets to make art? Our ancestors danced, played the flute, and performed various forms of art for what reason?
I use hard clay, modeling paste, binding medium, and colors from the clay and charcoal above to express the work. I hope it will touch the hearts of viewers and inspire profound thoughts about art.
